This International Standard specifies the requirements for an environmental management system that an organization can use to enhance its environmental performance. This International Standard helps an organization achieve the intended outcomes of its environmental management system, which provides value for the environment, the organization itself and interested parties. Consistent with the organization’s environmental policy, the intended outcomes of an environmental management system include: enhancement of environmental performance; fulfillment of compliance obligations; achievement of environmental objectives.

ISO 3834 "Quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials" is an internationally recognized quality system standard developed specifically for companies that weld. It applies to manufacturing, both in workshops and at field installation sites, providing criteria to be taken into account for the selection of the appropriate level of quality requirements for fusion welding of metallic materials. Since in accordance with Part 4.3.4.3 of the National Building Code of Canada, it is specified that "Steel building systems shall be manufactured by companies certified in accordance with the requirements of CSA A660", the CSA-A660 Standard was established upon the request of Canadian Steel Building System manufacturers and serves to provide guidance to code enforcement officials during the evaluation of building permit submissions that incorporate steel building systems. This guidance ensures that purchasers acquire structures of superior quality. The standard conducts comprehensive audits across all aspects of the manufacturer's processes, encompassing engineering design methods and personnel, materials control, fabrication, warehousing, packaging, shipping, erection documentation, and the implementation of quality assurance within the manufacturing facility.
This quality assurance program was developed by the Canadian Standards Association and it’s a precursor to ISO 9001. It’s still required by Industry sectors such as the power generation and distribution industries as well as the mining industries in Canada.
This Program has been written and developed by the CSPI (Corrugated Steel Pipe Institute) to support stakeholders and it prescribes requirements for the certification of Corrugated Steel Pipe, Spiral Rib Pipe, and Structural Plate Pipe to CSA G401 (Corrugated Steel Pipe Products).
