Introduction to Aluminum Pipe Welding

The CWB Association Nova Scotia and Halifax Chapter are seeking applicants from candidates interested in taking a 20-hour 鈥淚ntroduction to Aluminum Pipe Welding鈥 course at the NSCC Akerley Campus, Dartmouth, NS. This 20-hour course has been designed to introduce experienced welders to 1G Aluminum Pipe Welding using GTAW.

CSA Standard W47.1 | Marine Annex Review

The purpose of this presentation is to provide the audience with updates on what is being changed in the upcoming edition of CSA W47.1. The CSA W47.1 Technical Committee has agreed to the inclusion of new provisions for testing of welding personnel and procedures that will help fabricators welding steel materials less than 3mm thickness, stainless-steel materials of all thicknesses and for robotic welding applications.

Also, in response to the request received from the marine welding industry the new edition of CSA W47.1 will have its own provisions for testing of welding personnel and procedures specific for Marine industry. All these new provisions that will be included in the new edition have been developed to help welding fabricators meet and exceed any other equivalent standards that are being used by the welding industry.

Comparative Review of Welding Standards Followed Around the World: CSA vs AWS & ISO

The purpose of this presentation is to provide the audience with a comparative review of these Standards鈥 requirements and an overview of their similarities and differences. While in Canada and US welding requirements are driven by the building code and product standards, in Europe the welding requirements are driven by legislation and product standards. This presentation will describe the building code and legislation requirements. Also, some examples will be given to show the requirements for qualification of welding personnel and welding procedures as outlined in these standards.
