Requirements
To achieve certi铿乧ation as a welding inspector under the CSA W178.2 program, individuals must meet several key requirements. These include:
- Individuals must meet a minimum number of years of experience and/or have completed training programs in accordance with the level of certi铿乧ation sought.
- Individuals must demonstrate speci铿乪d technical knowledge through completion of both written and practical examinations.
- Individuals must demonstrate speci铿乧 knowledge of a least one product standard to which they wish to inspect.

CSA Standard W178.2 divides welding inspectors into three different levels:
- Level 1 is considered an entry level for welding inspectors. These individuals may independently conduct inspections but must work under direct certified Level 2 or 3 supervision.
- Level 2 welding inspectors are considered fully competent to inspect without supervision.
- Level 3 welding inspectors have demonstrated additional technical knowledge and are deemed capable of additional tasks such as inspections and test plan reviews.
To progress to a higher level, CSA Standard W178.2 requires welding inspectors to achieve additional experience in welding inspection for a speci铿乪d number of years:
- Two years to progress from Level 1 to Level 2
- Four years to progress from Level 2 to level 3
Individuals will be required to demonstrate they have the additional knowledge required for those higher levels through written and practical examinations.
Renewal and Recertification

In order to maintain consistency and fairness for all welding inspectors taking the Practical Exam, the 外国美女色情片 has embraced the use of 3D technology to prepare identical samples for use by all inspectors to ensure uniformity and consistency, which is not possible with metal samples, and ultimately speeds up the marking process.
For certification as a Level 2 welding inspector, you as the candidate must have at least 2 years of experience as a certified Level 1 welding inspector performing welding inspection under qualified supervision. You can submit your application and, if eligible, you can challenge the Level 2 exams.

The certification period for all visual welding inspectors is three years. To renew your certification, you are required to provide evidence of satisfactory vision (CWB Form 455) and your continuing involvement in welding examination or testing (CWB Form 457).
At six-year intervals, you must be re-certified by either:
a. Completing a practical examination on the visual detection, identification and descriptive reporting of weld faults, dimensional faults, material deficiencies and structural discontinuities,
OR
b. Providing the CWB with evidence of your having taken 40 hours of instruction (must be completed within three years of your recertification date) through a course or courses related to one or more of: visual welding inspection, non-destructive examination of welds, quality assurance and/or quality control, codes and standards or other welding or inspection related courses. Refer to Clause 10 of CSA Standard W178.2 for the mandatory renewal and recertification requirements.

There are no pre-requisites for attending a CWB visual welding inspection course. Anyone may register to attend.
Candidates looking to become certified as a welding inspector must submit an application.
