Visual Welding Inspector Level 2
Course Overview
This course is designed for Level 1 Welding Inspectors who want to further increase their knowledge of inspection and testing techniques.
The course includes
- World-class teaching and knowledge from our CWB instructors
- An opportunity to network with other welding professionals.
- Students will have access to the online portion of the course (CWB Learning Resources) for 90 days beginning 2 weeks before the course start date. This platform will provide course content, course quizzes and a digital copy of the textbooks.
- Participants will have access to download a transcript and certificate of attendance on successful completion of the course exams and final AI exam. Passing grade is 70%.

The in-class presentations are based on the CWB Level 2 Textbooks.
Íâ¹úÃÀŮɫÇéƬ to CSA W178.2
To advance your career even further and potentially increase your earnings, most course candidates are eligible to take the next step of applying for certification to become a certified Level 2 welding inspector, in conjunction with attending the course. CSA Standard W178.2 requires candidates have 2 years of visual welding inspection experience as a certified Level 1 Welding Inspector before they are eligible to upgrade to Level 2.
Should candidates wish to pursue this route, the Welding Inspector Application Form (CWB Form 450) and Visual Acuity Form (CWB Form 455) must be completed, submitted, and approved prior to the course start date. All information regarding the certification process is outlined in our Welding Inspector Application Guide (Form 301). The application fee is not included in the course registration fee.
The opportunity to complete all 11 chapter exams and the final practice exam required to obtain the Level 2 Course completion certificate is available during the course. Successful completion of the course examinations will allow you to write a shorter version of the Level 2 "closed book" theory examination on Welding Fundamentals and Welding Inspection, in addition to the Practical Exam. (All certification examinations must be completed within 2 years of the application approval date).
Welding Inspector certification exams will be available for completion on the next day immediately following courses offered in our Milton and Nisku locations ONLY.
